Sep. 22, 2011 - 2nd Annual "Into the Meadow" Dinner

INTO THE MEADOW - October 1st, 5:00 PM
Tickets: $150 per person

On October 1st, the Connemara Conservancy Foundation will host the second annual "Into the Meadow" celebration. For the second year, "Into the Meadow" brings together local chefs and food that's been farmed locally for those supporting Connemara's mission to preserve and protect the natural beauty of North Texas.

Tickets are available at www.connemaraconservancy.org or by calling (214) 351-0990. The event begins at 5 p.m. and benefits the Connemara Conservancy, which currently protects over 3,400 acres of land throughout North Texas.  The event will feature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the Pecan Grove, live music, an auction and a white tablecloth dinner held in the Meadow Preserve and catered by Pecan Lodge Catering.  Connemara Executive Director Sandra Greenway said, "From the cocktail reception in the Pecan Grove to the dramatic sunset to the fireflies floating throughout the Meadow during dinner, last year's Into The Meadow was a magical evening. Before it was over, we had people asking us to do it again. Based on the early response, we've had to expand this year's event since last year's was a sell-out."

The Meadow Preserve, a gift in 1981 from Connemara founder Frances Williams of her family's 72-acre meadow, was set aside to preserve Texas' natural beauty as the area expanded.  Connemara Members have access to the Meadow on a daily basis. The Meadow also hosts public open houses and bird and nature walks, and is used by thousands of students each year to explore and study nature.  Individual and family memberships, from $50 to $1500, are available at connemaraconservancy.org and allow year-round access to the Meadow Preserve. Please be advised that pets and vehicles are not allowed.

The Connemara Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of natural landscapes in North Texas. The more than 3,400 acres of land currently protected by Connemara are home to hundreds of native species of birds, animals and plant life.

Sep. 9, 2011 - A Great Place to Live: Allen, TX!

Residents know how great the city of Allen is, and now it seems that more and more people outside of Allen are catching on!

Forbes recently released its list of 25 Top Suburbs for Retirement and Allen, Texas was among the cities recognized from across the nation. According to Forbes, Allen was selected "due to our affordable median home price, low cost of living, low crime rates and favorable tax climate".

And this is on the heels of Money magazine ranking Allen one of the "20 Best Places To Live" in its August issue!  In placing Allen on its list of the 20 Best Small Cities in America, the editors specifically mention the Montgomery Farm development.  In summarizing Allen overall, the magazine's editors say:  "...while taxes may be a little higher compared to neighboring suburbs, real estate prices will get you more house for your dollar. With a top-performing school district, Allen is ideal for families who want to grow with their community." The city's website is www.CityOfAllen.org.

And of course it was no surprise when Watters Creek was named "Best New Shopping Center 2010" by D Home Magazine.  This mixed-use development offers 1.15 million sq. ft. of retail, restaurant, office space and high-end loft apartments and features a resort-style design with pond and running creek, open green space, more than 500 trees and lush landscaping, as well as interactive public art.  When the property opened in May 2008 it was the first retail development in the State of Texas to be LEED certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.  Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm is located at 75/Central and Bethany Drive at 970 Garden Park Drive in Allen, Texas.  For more information, visit www.WattersCreek.com
