Blogging for Real Estate

May. 11, 2011

With the blog entries on my personal blog for Milford CT homes for sale, I’ve learned that it helps to vary the topics. Sticking to general real estate news and trends in blog entries gets rather stale, and readers are more likely to get bored with such entries, rather than be entertained and informed.

Sure, that may be our industry and our niche, but remember, a blog needs to be readable. That’s the whole point of going to a blog. If someone’s constantly writing the same, boring stuff, do you ever see yourself visiting that site again? Probably not.

So how do you vary things? Here are a few ideas to get your blogging juices flowing:

1) Local News and Happenings

If you really want to target your local audience, write about things that are going on in your area. These news articles don’t necessarily need to be about real estate. Just think about the audience you’re trying to attract - potential buyers, sellers, and renters. These people may want to know what your area is like prior to moving there or finding a home. They may be interested in the school systems for their kids or in the different events that go on in your area.

Hyper local blogging can also help you attract readers through longtail keyword searches on Google.

2) Pop Culture

Who doesn’t love pop culture? Writing about things like the latest episode of Glee can help attract longtail traffic to your site and also give readers an idea of what interests you. If you happen to share a common interest with a potential buyer, then you might be one step closer to landing a client.

Also, these entries are just fun. You want your blog to be as enjoyable to read as it is to write. Remember that constant content will make your blog look better to search engines.

3) Anything That Would Provide Your Readers with Help and Value

For example, I just recently blogged about job hunting, giving readers tips from applying to interviewing. I find is so rewarding to give back to my readers in such a way. Who knows? Maybe someone might be able to bounce back from a layoff through the tips from my blog entries.

That’s why when I write, I find that’s blogging should be more than just about Milford CT real estate. Maybe writing whatever comes to mind will help me find buyers for Milford CT homes for sale.
