REALTORS Get a Second Life
Real Estate Industry Solutions, LLC (REIS), a leading provider of strategic solutions for the real estate industry and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Florida Assn. of REALTORS® (FAR), is proud to announce that it held the first simulcast of a REALTORS® Association convention in Second Life.
On Saturday, January 25, 2008, REIS broadcast the FAR Business Trends and Technology Forum live at the public campus of REIS’ Realign University in Second Life. Forum topics included a demonstration of micro PCs and discussion of mapping applications for the mobile professional. The guest speakers and their presentations were visible to in-world guests on a screen in an outdoor auditorium in Second Life, and Forum attendees could view the activity occurring at Realign U.
Realign U is a virtual campus community for real estate industry participants to gather and exchange information regarding in-world and real world activities. Realign U is home of REIS’ newest program, WEB 3D-R™, an innovative coaching program providing step-by-step insight and guidance to REALTORS® and other industry professionals who seek to establish a brand and build a business inside Second Life. Coaching students not only learn how to create business opportunities inside Second Life, but also fundamentals of avatar movement and appearance to create a professional image inside the site. Industry organizations may utilize Realign U facilities for training, promotions and events.
“We are very proud that our FAR subsidiary, Real Estate Industry Solutions, has shown it is a leader in providing useful technology products and services for REALTORS®. The first simulcast of a Realtor convention in Second Life cements the idea that REIS can create new and innovative programs to help REALTORS® succeed”, said Chuck Bonfiglio, President of the Florida Assn. of REALTORS.
“The Realign™ program delivered by Real Estate Industry Solutions is a unique opportunity for REALTORS® and REALTOR® associations to understand how to conduct their business in an online environment”, said Cathy Whatley, Chairman of Real Estate Industry Solutions.
Industry vendors can reach coaching students through a permanent exhibit area on the campus, and classrooms are available for popular real estate speakers to bring their programs inside Second Life.
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely created by its Residents. You will find vast digital content, teeming with people, entertainment and experiences. Many people have purchased parcels of land to build their house or business. Residents retain the rights to their digital creations; they can buy, sell and trade with other Residents. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.
