Survive and Thrive: Moonlighting in the Real Estate Business

With an average of 5 Million total residential real estate transactions per year in the United States, there are not enough commission dollars earned nationwide each year to support all of the people who are in the real estate sales business.

With most of the MLSs in the US reporting that only about half of the agents and brokers sell anything, year after year, how do people survive?

The short answer is that they do not survive in the business. The rate of attrition is over 25% per year. The second answer is that their spouse has a "real" job and income from a spouse who is in real estate sale, is not consistently required for the families survival.

We often hear the question about holding down a second job while you build your real estate career.

Some folks say no way...I say, way.
