Keeping promises, and commitment

One way to build trust and confidence in a relationship (a sales relationship or otherwise), is to make a promise and keep it.
From showing up on time, to coming back with the answer to a buyer's question...a promise kept increases trust and confidence.
Commitment is a magical word to me. It has been my life experience that commitment is one of the essential ingredients for success.
Commitment makes things happen. This is my favorite quote on a commitment by W.H. Murray, Scottish Himalayan Expedition, 1951. I memorized it about 40 years ago and recite it often.

Read it, think about it, and take the time to memorize it and it just might change your life:

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment one commits oneself,
Then providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
That would otherwise never have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
Raising in one's favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect
For one of Goethe's couplets:
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can - begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
