RealTown Words
A tort or civil wrong in which a person maliciously makes disparaging, untrue statements concerning another’s title to property, thus causing injury. The disparaging statement may be oral or written, but it must be conveyed to some third person(s). Some statements are privileged, notably a lis pendens pleading filed in the appropriate court. Willful failure to remove a satisfied judgment lien may be grounds for a slander of title action.
