WIN GOING AWAY

Well, sometimes it does pay to be a little tardy. Johnny Pens, who is notorius for doing a Marvin Barnes imitation, the former Sprits of St. Louis basketball team all-star center, & whose favorite saying was "game time is on time". Well as usual, Pens was a bit tardy. But, as soon as Tim Kelley subbed off, Pens was on, made a run, collected a through ball & finished by burying a rocket past the startled Vetta Blue keeper who had no chance. That put SSL up 1-0. That was just the start.

Pens continued to pour it on, collecting a total of 5 goals on the evening along with a helper as well as contributions from Steve Rankin with 2 & 2, Tim Kelley with 2 goals, Bob Janko with 1 & 1, Jim Ahearn & Joe Behr with a goal apiece & newcomer Mike Hartsook with a helper.

This match was unusual in one very large respect. There was no halftime. With the new Vetta policy of a running 45 minute clock, there was no interval & no changing ends. Strange.

Next week is a big match with huge ramifications. SSL will meet old friend Maddox @ 7:35. A win in this match would position SSL for another berth in the final. A loss, well, it would be much more difficult. So, join us for this friendly get-together. It'll be entertaining at the very least, &, if Pens is tardy, well, who knows what'll happen. See you then.
