O-40 RECOVER FROM TOUGH LOSS
EVEN RECORD AT 1 & 1
After a difficult loss last week 6-4 versus Maddox, & after leading at one point 3-1, took out that frustration on the Vetta Red team, posting a solid 8-5 win. In this game, which started slowly for SSL & featured an early 1-0 lead by Vetta Red, SSL gradually built momentum & reeled off 5 straight goals en route to a 5-1 lead at the interval.
The first half also featured a team defense that bent but wouldn't break. Lead by keeper David Shelton, the SSL side turned away chance after chance by Vetta Red, while at the same time, creating many offensive chances, converting on 5.
The 2nd half was a bit different. After taking a commanding 7-2 lead, SSL withstood a run by Vetta Red that resulted in 3 straight unanswered goals narrowing the score to 7-5. But that's where the run ended. SSL added an 8th goal, stretching their lead to 3 goals at 8-5, & Vetta Red never got any closer. SSL closed out the 8-5 win, & evened their record at 1-1.
SSL was lead on offense by Steve Rankin with 4 goals & 1 helper; Ken Brigden with 3 & 1; Bob Janko with 1 goal & Johnny Pens with 2 helpers.
Next week SSL will face Lampert, who currently sits in first place witha 2-0 record & a league leading 3 goals against, @ 9:25, looking to improve their record to 2-1. Should be an entertaining match. Hope you can join us. Thanks for reading.
