SSL CLOSES WITH SOLID WINPLAYS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP NEXTThe 8-3 win vs. the Buckshots, put the finishing touches to another solid session by the SSL side. Finishing the regular session 6-0-1, was good for 18 points & once again, a berth in the Championship game this Thursday. The win vs. the Buckshots was a workmanlike effort, with the entire team contributing, either on offense or on defense. Once again the SSL side lead the league in fewest goals allowed at 22, although not their best effort overall, but certainly good enough for their 6th consecutive session winning that coveted defensive title. The game started quickly for SSL, finishing twice for an early 2-0 lead. But, just like last week, the opponent scored two quick goals of their own to knot the score at 2 all. But unlike last week where the opponent, Imo's, continued to score, serving SSL with their only loss of the session, this week SSL scored the 3rd goal & never looked back, en route to an 8-3 win over the always tough Buckshot side. As luck would have it, the opponent for the SSL side in the Championship game this Thursday @ 8:40 on field #1 will be none other than the same team that handed SSL their only loss of the session, Imo's. SSL has faced Imo's twice previously in Championships, winning both, by scores of 8-2 & 6-4. SSL will try to keep that particular winning streak in place. Contributing to the SSL win vs. the Buckshots were David Hipperson with 2 goals & 2 helpers; Guillermo Cortez with 3 goals; Ronnie Rowden, Sladan Kurtovic & Mike Hogan with 1 goal each & Casey Walsh, Tony Meadows & Johnny Pens, with 1 helper each. Hope to see you all at the Championship match this Thursday, 9/4/08 @ 8:40 vs. Imo's. See you then.
