Create A BlogBeaufort SC Named to Outdoor Life's Top 200 Hunting & Fishing Towns |
The June/Junly edition of Outdoor Life magazine gave local outdoorsmen/women a nice surprise when it named Beaufort to it's "Top 200 Hunting and Fishing towns" list. The annual list uses a variety of factors which include: Median Home Value, Cost of Living Index, Unemployment Rate, Mean Commute Time (mins.), Amenities, Gun Laws, Fishable Species, Huntable Species, Proximity to Public Access, and Trophy potential. We came in at # 108 which I thought was a little surprising. I thought we might have climbed a little higher. That's okay with us Beaufortonians. We would like to keep our little slice of paradise a secret for as long as possible. Appearing on national list is becoming more common than not for Beaufort. From retirement to fishing to hunting to best small town, Beaufort is becoming discovered. It seems the secret is slowly leaking out.
As far as fishing, I consider the tidal creeks and rivers around Port Royal, Lady's island and St. Helena Island to be excellent. We have the largest array of wildlife in South Carolina and I anticipate outdoors minded people would love to call Beaufort SC home.
