Thanks for the Welcome! I think this is a great idea!

I had a developer/builder background prior to getting my license in 1986.

Moved from Texas to Maryland for 4 1/2 years and them back to Plano, TX mid year 2005. Rejoined RE/MAX 2006.

As for the Marketing Plan/Budget for 2009. I'm working on that and would love to hear any ideas you might have.

I currently take advantage of our RE/MAX Design Center for Just Listed/Just Sold postcards and have Quantum or ExpressCopy print and mail them. For less than 100 pcs. I use Send Out Cards. I really like their "Campaign" feature - lets you schedule for future mailings.

Hi everyone, I received a message from Troy asking me to introduce myself to you, since I am a new member.

I've only been in real estate for 2 years now, well almost 3. I got my license in early 2006, (Great timing, right!) I've always wanted to be a real estate agent but others things, like making a living for my family, kept getting in the way.

My husband started his own painting company in 1998 and I think everyone knows how hard it is to start any type of business. My son joined the Marines, which was really hard on me. So then I thought if everyone else was doing what they really wanted, why wasn't I? So I quit my job of 10 years and went to Hondros College.

I was lucky to have passed my exam the first time and I joined a Keller Williams brokerage.

I've learned a lot in the short time I have been an agent, mostly what not to do! But I've made some great friends from past clients and other agents. I've never worked so hard in my life for so little pay, however I feel blessed that I am able to stay in a business that I love so much!

I did change companies the second half of last year, I am now with Columbus Realty Professionals and I am actually staying very busy with buyers.

Having said all that I know there is a lot that I need to learn about real estate and I am willing to learn it. I also know that the best way to learn it is by other agents who are/or have gone though the same thing. We all have experiences that we can share and learn from.

That is why I have joined this group to learn as much as I possibly can and to be able to help someone else.

Thank you so much for this opportunity!

I've been in real estate since January 1985, working in Northern Virginia. I've had my brokers license since 1989. I especially like working with first time homebuyers.
I started off working with the (at that time) largest independent brokerage in the area, who had been around since 1903. They are no longer around, but I was with them for 5 years. My second five years were with 3 different Century 21 offices. I then switched to Jobin Realty. My original office broke away after a few years, but I switched back to Jobin, who have approximately 2,000 agents in Virginia, Maryland and DC vicinity.
I'm originally from London, England, but have spent most (2/3) of my life in the US. I have three grown children. Steve in Pittsburgh, Karen in western Maryland, and Gail in Sterling, Virginia. I live in Falls Church, about 7 miles from the White House. I have 9 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. I live with my cat, Bazz the Ripper!
I hope to get more ideas to improve the service I give my clients, and share with others in the group.
My first suggestion; could we have a way to enlarge the font we use, so that those of us getting along in years can read the the messages? ;-)

I began my Real Estate career in Michigan and acquired both my Real Estate Sales Person License and a Builders License. I moved to California in 2000 but didn't establish my Real Estate business here till 2005. Since 2005 I have built a successful business and continue to learn and grow. My addiction is technology, and I thrive on moving to the next level. I also enjoy helping others reach their goals and I'm always looking for ways to increase the professional standards of the Real Estate profession.

Hello

I have been in the business 20 yrs in the midwest (IN). I started with Century 21 and was with my agency for abt 12 years until my broker closed, later he join a newer C21 group. I went with Coldwell Banker and have widened my scope. I am currently completing NAR EPro-taking me a while even though I was a computer programmer several years back at a local engineering college. My bckground was college administration prior to joining the Real Estate Field. I enjoying working with first time home buyers, and currently working more with foreclosed properties and some short sales opportunities. I have also done property management. I completed my appraisal instruction but didn't take State Boards as there was not the contact with clients that I so enjoy. I have much to learn and look forward to interacting with those that have so much to share. I am a past Board of Director member for our Tere Haute Association of Realtors and current Communication Director for our state CRS board.

My name is Barb Hibnick and I have been in real estate for over 25 years. Before that I was a music teacher which is perfect training for being a Realtor, right?.
.
I have lived in the Chicago suburbs all of my life but in various communities and that knowledge has really helped my RE career.
.
About 10 years into my career, I opened my own office with a coworker and learned that owning your own business is highly overrated. I felt like a babysitter and terrified that some of these agents would cause me to lose my license with their refusal to listen to ethical and legal ways to run their business. I have much more sympathy for all owners now and thank goodness we were able to sell our business without a loss to us.
.
I am married (for 28 years) and have two wonderful boys. I had my husband join me in real estate about 5 years ago.
.
I truly love selling Real Estate. It's a fun business and I adore helping the people. The "teacher" in me gets to be fulfilled also.

Hello Masterminds,
My name is Maryann Maki and I live and work in Valparaiso, Indiana. I currently serve several counties, Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper and Starke. I have been in real estate for 8 years and it is the most enjoyable work I have ever done. Previously, I worked with United Airlines in Chicago, and we later owned and operated Maki Travel Center in Downers Grove, Illinois.
My airline/travel career came to a halt after September 11, and life took me to real estate which has become my passion. I own an Arabian horse and specialize in equine property and farms, but I enjoy diversity working with sellers and buyers. Recently buyers have been more prevalent in my business looking for bargain properties, therefore, I go where the business leads me.
This forum is fantastic with real estate professionals sharing business ideas. I look forward to listening and sharing.
My best to everyone,
