(Video) SF Unscripted Interview: Alexis Wong - SOMA Grand

Nov. 23, 2006
Categorized in: Video

 President & CEO Alexis Wong

AGI Capital, founded by Alexis Wong, is one of the lead developers of the SOMA Grand. This is a great interview about the building, the area and San Francisco in general.

Since she founded AGI Capital in 1998, the company has completed over $500 million of development and investment opportunities and Alexis Wong has led the company to growth as a multi-million-dollar, vertically integrated real estate investment and development firm.  In October 2006, Ms. Wong led the effort to successfully form a joint venture partnership with TMG Partners and CalPERS (California Public Employees Retirement System), a $230 billion and second largest pension fund in the U.S. to invest $100 million in urban infill housing projects.  This joint venture is first of its kind with CalPERS and AGI Capital is the first Asian developer receiving such allocation.

Under Ms. Wong’s leadership, AGI Capital received the distinguished awards such as one of the Largest Residential Developers in the Bay Area and Top 100 Women Owned Businesses in the Bay Area.  Ms. Wong also recently just received the recognition by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Business.

With 15 years of experience in real estate management, development, and investment property brokerage, Ms. Wong has managed, developed, and overseen most types of real estate projects including retail, office, large multi-family investment projects, land development, adaptive re-use, and condominium conversion projects. Through her insights and progressive investment philosophy, Ms. Wong has led many projects which preceded and drove upward trends in Bay Area regions.

Through her years in the Bay Area business community, Ms. Wong has a strong network of public, private, and government relations in the Bay Area. She also has extensive experience working with companies based in Asia and is active in leadership of several philanthropic organizations, including local and international political, cultural, and environmental groups.  She is an appointee to both the California Organized Investment Network Advisory Board under the Department of Insurance, the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs.  In addition, Ms Wong was previously appointed to the California Real Estate Advisory Commission and the California World Trade Commission.

Ms. Wong received a BA in marketing and an MBA in international management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. In 2003 she joined the Alumni Board of Directors at her alma mater and is a current member of the Golden Gate University Ageno School of Business.
