Shoe Drive to Benefit SOLES4SOULS!

Nov. 17, 2008
Categorized in: St. Simons Information

Nashville based Soles4Souls facilitates the donations of both new and used shoes to aid the hurting and needy worldwide. It is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in our closets. This charity can use these shoes to make a tangible difference in someone’s life. Here at Beachcomber Properties, we want to participate in this cause and ask that you clean out your closets and come by our office at 539 Ocean Blvd. in the Village on St. Simons Island to drop off your “gently worn” shoes. These donations can include shoes for men, women and children, casual, sport shoes or dress shoes.

If you would care to read about the organization, you may go to www.giveshoes.org
or call our office 912/638-0697.

Thank you!

Getting Ready for Tax Season

Oct. 8, 2007
Categorized in: General Information
This last quarter of 2007 still gives us all some time to make some moves to affect the size of the tax check you'll write come April 2008. I understand that you will be required to provide documentation for any gift to charity with a receipt or bank record. If there is an organization you wish to support, now is the time to plan for when you wish to strike that check so you can deduct it this year. Perhaps you have stock that you have been losing money on and thinking of selling. Speak with your tax advisor on selling now and those losses may balance out other taxable gains you have. I'm sure your accountant would be pleased to give you a checklist of more ideas to save you tax dollars.
One of my New Year 2007 resolutions was not to wait till year-end to attempt to get my affairs in order. I'll let you know if I keep that promise!
I hate advice---unless I'm giving it!
