This Information Really Bugs Me!!!

I recently read an article in USA Today about the frequent incidence of bedbug invasion! The problem, according to the article, is due to an increase in cheap air travel to exotic locations where this pest wasn't eliminated and also the ban on pesticides like DDT which were effective and had longer lasting effect on the little buggers. Also, the name bedbugs is really a misnomer as they can live it cracks and crevices on the floor, behind picture frames and in your clothing in addition to your mattress and bed linens. Now that I have completely and utterly grossed you out, some tips for not getting them in the first place follow:
  • When you travel, take note where you leave your suitcase. A metal luggage rack would be a good choice.
  • Check behind a hotel headboard with a penlight. Pull back the linens and check for fecal stains on the mattress seams and ticking.
  • If you do wake up with red welts, assume the worst! When you return home, put all your laundry immediately in the washer in a hot cycle to kill them.
  • DON"T use a bomb or bug spray you can purchase at the local grocery store. Now is not the time to go to war alone. Call a good pest control company ASAP.
