• Mar. 16, 2009 - Congress approves Funds for Intracoastal Waterway
Lately all we seem to hear is that the government has allocated monies for this group or the other or is bailing out individuals and failing businesses. There is one recent allocation of nearly $1 million that strikes close to home and is a much needed infusion of funds for our local area. Coastal GA’s portion of the Intracoastal Waterway has been negatively affected by silting that has caused some boaters to avoid our area on the way to Florida. We want those boaters stopping in to buy their gas and other goods and services right here in Glynn County.
In addition to recreational boating, our waterway serves as transportation for many coastal businesses and for the Brunswick harbor. This funding will allow dredging in the most problematic areas and help keep the marine trade generated by our waterways healthy. |
