Daily Property Updates:
If you already own property in Glynn County or are interested in property ownership in our wonderful area, I'd like to
keep you informed of changes and additions to area inventory for sale. I can shoot you an email each day there are changes
such as new contracts or closed transactions as well as new listings as soon as they hit the market. Should you have
friends or family that also may be interested in getting up to the minute information on an area or particular
neighborhood, I would love to accommodate them as well.
Kindly let me know if this service would be one you'd like me to provide and I will gladly check your search criteria in
our local MLS system each day. If there is someone who doesn't have email that is no problem---delivery by mail is another
option.
I look forward to hearing from you!

• Oct. 10, 2007 - Purse Safety Tip
A female acquaintance in a local law firm sent out an email reminder that I'd like to share with you.
She & a friend recently went to the local Cracker Barrel for lunch. Both did as women
always do---they hung their purse on the back of their chairs. She felt the man behind her bump
into her chair a bit as he got up to leave but thought nothing of it as the tables were so close together.
They both had an unhurried lunch and when she went to the register to pay for her meal, as you may have guessed,
her wallet was gone. The guy had taken her wallet & in less than 3 hours he and his companion
had charged $12,000! What they are doing is immediately going to chain stores close by that sell
gift cards to allow them to get in and out quickly and giving them the ability to go back later and shop at their
leisure. The police noted that this had also happened in a surrounding county to ours.
Take care and keep your pocketbook beside you or at your feet! |

• Oct. 8, 2007 - Getting Ready for Tax Season
This last quarter of 2007 still gives us all some time to make some moves to affect the size of the tax check you'll write
come April 2008. I understand that you will be required to provide documentation for any gift to charity with a receipt or
bank record. If there is an organization you wish to support, now is the time to plan for when you wish to strike that
check so you can deduct it this year. Perhaps you have stock that you have been losing money on and thinking of selling.
Speak with your tax advisor on selling now and those losses may balance out other taxable gains you have. I'm sure your
accountant would be pleased to give you a checklist of more ideas to save you tax dollars.
One of my New Year 2007 resolutions was not to wait till year-end to attempt to get my affairs in order. I'll let you know
if I keep that promise!
I hate advice---unless I'm giving it!

• Oct. 5, 2007 - If Only we had a Crystal Ball!
Tell me the future . . .
How do we foresee market changes and trends? Certainly nobody has the definite bead on what's ahead and how variables can
impact the final result, but trying to recognize growth and current dynamics in a given area is possible.
In our area, we are still experiencing so much development throughout the county even though the real estate sales are
down somewhat from this time last year. With the recent dredging done to enhance our channel depth, the Port of Brunswick
is deemed to be the fastest growing port in North America. New schools have opened to accommodate the student's growing
numbers with even more school sites in the planning stages for the near future. The Jekyll Island Authority's plan to
enhance amenities and lodging choices for our guests has everyone very excited about putting our lovely Jekyll back on the
map as a convention choice and destination for more guests. If you care to read about the development plans on the table
go to www.rediscoverjekyll.com to review. (Thanks to Brian Brodrick for
providing that link!) New shopping and dining choices have sprung all over the county, particularly close to exits off
I-95. New subdivision communities have given homeowners choices in starter home price points up to upscale areas with
high-end features.
All in all, the outlook for Glynn County's future still looks bright. If you have any specific questions or interests
regarding the Golden Isles of Georgia, I would be very pleased to attempt to help you.

• Oct. 1, 2007 - Jekyll Island - Georgia's Jewel
|
Over the last months, it seemed some type of article about the proposals, or opposition to said proposals, to new
development on Jekyll were almost a daily occurrence in the local newspaper. It appears that the Jekyll Island Authority
has at last developed a feasible plan that should revitalize the Island and bring more guests and conventioneers back to
enjoy the natural beauty and amenities. Many were concerned with keeping the state owned island in the price range that
the average citizen could utilize and enjoy. Prospective plans include some timeshare condo units and cottages in addition
to hotel lodging ranging from $105 - $183 per night. In this day of "Green Consciousness" the plans include awareness of
keeping environmentally friendly and at the same time preserving the natural beauty. The project manager feels this
redevelopment can be a model for other future developments all over our nation.
In its early heyday as a millionaire's retreat, then in 1947 the conversion to a State Park, Jekyll has been a haven to
many Georgians and other visitors. The title used today in their advertising is Jekyll Island---Georgia's Jewel. It is
indeed a precious jewel, but even a jewel needs an occasional cleaning & polishing. We look forward to sharing this
enhancement with you!
Note: This lovely old photo of the Jekyll Island Clubhouse was borrowed with the permission of Tyler E. Bagwell. Mr.
Bagwell is a resident of Jekyll and a professor at the Community College in Brunswick. His body of work on the history of
our area is prodigious and well worth your review. I encourage you to go www.jekyllislandhistory.com to enjoy the results of his research and
this and many other wonderful photos and articles on a bygone era.
