I am still impressed with heated and a/c seats in my car, but that is old news now.  The newest technology will allow you to control your home from 2 blocks away!!  It is just a simple remote control that can be brought anywhere; in your car, on a bike ride, to the neighbors...With this little hand-held device you can have full control of the television, microwave, lights, blinds and any other electrical system in your home.  If you are running late and about to miss the beginning of your show you can simple start the television and record the show, or if you leave the house and then realize you didn't turn off the bedroom lights - no problem.   Once these devices are available we won't know how we ever lived without them.

Aug. 8, 2006 - Weddings

There's more to it than "I do"

I was reading an article in the Pioneer Press on how non-traditional weddings are becoming and it made me think about how true that is, and the extent some people will go to just top make their wedding unique.  Not only is the atire changing and people going to more exotic locations than before, but some people are even broadcasting on national television.  What, I personally think should be the most intimate day of ones life, others feel it's appropriate to invite the entire nation.  Shows such as "Bridezilla" show the entire process of preparing for the wedding and all the way through the day of.  They emphasize all the mess-ups and headaches caused by weddings and make the bride out to be a total head case.  In each show the bride seems to be completely annoyed, upset and overwhelmed on the day of her wedding.  As I watch this I wonder why anyone would want to get married.  The producers of these shows must throw in some twists and turns just to make the drama, because otherwise why would the public watch it.  So, what would it take for you to let someone dramatize your wedding, and tape it for the world to see?  I don't think you could pay me enough.

Live-in Room?

A new fad in home decorations is live-in rooms.  A live-in room eliminates the need for walls and doors because it consists of one large room with zones, each with their own prupose.  One popular live-in room combines the kitchen, dining room and living room.  This allows families and guests to be together while someone is cooking and others are chating or watching television.  The purpose is to allow people to move quickly and easily from one activity to the next.  They can be cooking on the stove and then dash to the living room to tevo their favorite show and then stop at the table and pay some bills.  Will this be the next big trend in housing styles or is it a passing fad?
