IPhone and Supra
|

I look forward to the day when I will be able to use the IPhone to open up Supras. I just checked with GE and was told that Apple hasn't released the software code to them. Once they get it, they can develop the app.
For me, once that happens, it will mean one less need for having a PC side to my MacBook Pro.
I agree that will be nice however I think the ekey will still be required for the older Supra boxes.

Perhaps you are correct, but the person you spoke to may just be giving you a good excuse. All of the development tools, including the necessary code, are right there in the iPhone SDK (software development kit) that can be gotten today from Apple. As it says right there on their site -
"With the tools included in the iPhone SDK, you can get started developing your application for iPhone today. Access the iPhone Dev Center for a wealth of resources including videos, sample code, technical documentation, Coding How-To's, and more."
So perhaps you might want to draw that to their attention so that can get started today.

Hey Ronald
I so totally agree with Win Singleton that is just BS coming from someone who doesn't care about customer feedbacks from GE and that is sad because that will be a great application to be developed to make agents more efficient.
Best of wishes

I checked again today with GE just to make if I would get a different response. This time I was told that they were working with several IPhones to see if they can make them usable. What's the truth?? Your guess is as good as mine.
Perhaps others can call them to see what response they get. Also, it is important that they realize what a great tool it would be for us.

Hey Ronald
I'd say that most likely they have a lot of stuff on their plate. Technology gets very complicated as different platforms keep coming on the market. ALthough they already support the Palm and Windows mobile so I'd assume it'd be easy; this is where almost a monopoly comes in. They already own a big market share and aren't forced to innovate.
Warm wishes

In my part of town (Los Angeles county) they have a distribution deal with Verizon to have package deals for Blackberry's and Palm phones. Since the iPhone is AT&T, I think this is the real reason they aren't hustling to get the iPhone Supra capable.
