Updating the iPhone with iTunes

My friend mentioned that it's best to do your iPhone updates through iTunes on one computer rather than using multiple computers (i.e home and work). Is this true? If so, why?
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
There is no prohibition from doing your iPhone updates through iTunes on more than one computer if both computers at home and the office are in sync with each other. You just have to be careful.
From Apple -
"With iPhone, you can have easy access to important information on your computer, including your contacts, calendars, and even your browser bookmarks, as well as to music, video, and other content in your iTunes library. Syncing copies information and content between iPhone and your computer, keeping it current and up-to-date, whether you make changes on iPhone or on your computer."
You might also like to read this syncing overview.
When updating or syncing your iPhone, all sorts of content can be updated and even replaced or deleted. Unless both the home and office computers are identical in having contacts, calendars, downloaded music, etc., you run the risk where when syncing with the home computer, it removes items that were synced with your iPhone and your office computer or vice versa. So most people find it easier to use just one computer as the Master to sync their iPhone.
Hope that helps...
