IPhone

<p> On my way to work I heard on the radio about Mac releasing a new iPhone device that is a combination Mac computer and iPhone. It is supposed to be released early in 2010. Has anyone heard of this? I&#39;m curious as to how big the device will be. It doesn&#39;t seem that the iPhone could be much larger and still be a cell phone. </p>

<p> It took over twenty minutes to update my iPhone using iTunes.<br /> Is this normal or should it be faster than this? </p>

<p> I look forward to the day when I will be able to use the IPhone to open up Supras. I just checked with GE and was told that Apple hasn&#39;t released the software code to them. Once they get it, they can develop the app. </p> <p> For me, once that happens, it will mean one less need for having a PC side to my MacBook Pro. </p> <p> </p>

<p> I am looking to buy speakers to plug my iPhone into. <p> Can you set the iPhone so that if you are listening to music you won&#39;t be interrupted by text messages or calls? If you could set it to only interrupt from certain numbers that would be great. </p>

<p> Recently, I realized that I hadn&#39;t received any voice mail messages on my IPhone for 10 days. I hadn&#39;t really paid any attention to my voice mail because I usually just check &quot; recent&quot; to see who has called. Then, I began to get calls from people asking why I hadn&#39;t responded to their voice mail. </p> <p> I called AT&amp;T IPhone help desk who had to get a higher level tech involved. It seems that I wasn&#39;t the only wait with the problem although I never received an answer as to the reason for the problem. It seems that AT&amp;T had some issues. </p> <p> I then had to do a complete restore of my IPhone with the help of the AT&amp;T tech. He was very helpful and patient. Once the restore was complete, I haven&#39;t had any further problems. </p> <p> My IPhone is a 3G and not the newest version. </p> <p> Just a suggestion: call 611 and go thru your voice mails to make certain that you have them all and don&#39;t have my problem. </p> <p> </p> <p> Ron Gorman </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

<p> If you have an iPhone do you no longer need a gps in your car?<br /> Or are there advantages to having a dedicated gps system. I don&#39;t have a gps but my guess is that the bigger screen is useful.<br /> Also do they sell something to mount your iPhone on your dashboard since its illegal (at least in California) to hold it while driving? </p>

<p> I like to text with the iPhone with the phone in the vertical position however I find the keypad to be a little too small. I suspect the answer is no but I thought I&#39;d ask whether there is a way to increase its size. The keypad in horizontal position is plenty big but it is less perferable since it requires two hands to do texting. </p> <p> Thanks, </p> <p> -Brian </p>

<p> If you have - don&#39;t update to the latest version of the OS (3.1) just yet. They&#39;re still working on a jailbreak for that. Latest version of the OS that can be jailbroke is 3.01. </p> <p> I jailbroke (jailbreaking is the process used to put other apps on the iPhone other than the official AppStore apps) mine two days after I got it. </p> <p> I can now access my VOIP account via Fring - even if I&#39;m on 3G rather than a wireless connection. It helps keep those minutes down. </p> <p> I also added PDANet (www.junefabrics.com) which serves as a modem to my laptop if I don&#39;t have an available internet connection, or in an emergency such as a serious wired internet interruption, I can even connect to the desktop and still have internet access. </p> <p> Another handy app is iBlacklist (not available in the app store) which blocks unidentified, blocked, and other callers that you put on the blacklist. </p> <p> </p> <p> Pat </p> <p> </p>
