 My name is Rick Borden I am a Real Estate Broker in McGregor Minnesota and enjoy fishing and have enjoyed it since my father taught me as a young boy on my Grandpas lake in eastern Minnesota. I now live with my wife Leane on Big Sandy Lake in Northern Minnesota it is located only 2 hours North of the Twin Cities Metro area of Minneapolis.
Being in Real Estate gives me the flexibility to go fishing when I have time the weekends are all ways busy for me as most of my clients are from Chicago, Minneapolis, as well as from Wisconsin too so it seems as though my free time is during the week days and it is very quiet on the lake during the week. Big Sandy Lake has an abundant population of Bald Eagles and a whole bunch of Loons.... Not crazy weird funny people but our State Bird.
Big Sandy Lake is Awesome it has 23 Islands and has a whole bunch of structure on the lake so it is a hard lake to get used to if you do not fish much. I typically will fish for Walleye, Crappie, and Large mouth Bass up in Aitkin Lake we also are starting to get a descent Sunfish population too. I am hoping that this 2008 season will provide me the opportunity to get out and enjoy the lake as much as you all do.

Minnesota National Golf Course~ McGregor Minnesota
The Minnesota National Golf Course will be opening up next week for the first round of the 2008 Season in McGregor Minnesota located in Aitkin County.
Minnesota National Golf Course will have all 27 holes open this year I saw the owner of the course this week in fact he me around the course to give me a personal tour of this spectacular place, I was very impressed when the designer of the new course showed up after the tour and said that he wanted to play it next week when the grounds dry up a bit.
I am looking forward to playing this course as well as marketing this Awesome area Wayne Alden has asked me to be the Broker for this development called Settlers Ridge it will have over 300 home sites and a brand new state of the art facility for the Buyers of the homes to use and as well as its members to use.

The 2008 opening fishing season will soon be here in McGregor Minnesota it should be a good one locals are predicting we still have nearly 2 feet of Ice on Big Sandy Lake.
Big Sandy Lodge and Resort which is located in Davis Bay of Big Sandy has an annual fishing tournament every year and I have fished it only once but have heard great things about it. I was speaking with Leane who is the Lodges Marketing Director and assistant GM for the Lodge and this year will be no different except she noted we need to get rid of all this Ice we have out there on the Lake.
The Fishing Tournament starts out at the Lodge May 10Th 2008 @ 9 am Weigh in is promptly at 4pm at the docks.
$10 entry fee with a 100% payout~ Prizes awarded at 5:30 pm

Big Sandy Lodge will have a Breakfast special for those that come with an appetite. I know this is a big day on Big Sandy Lake I will see you out there.

Real Estate in McGregor Minnesota is heating up with the Spring market coming in. Last week I sold a lake lot that was for sale by a FSBO it turns out that they wanted to sell the lake lot on Big Sandy Lake last year before they went to Arizona for the Winter and I asked them if I could market the lot for them while they were away?
Well as it turns out I found a Great young couple that was looking for a lake lot on Big Sandy Lake for a while and they were having a hard time finding one!
You know the rest of the story we looked at lots all day and then....... a week or so later they said we liked the one on Big Sandy. It will be a great place for them to get started on the lake as they are not ready to build on it as of yet I look forward to sitting around the camp fire with them and enjoying the sunsets with them and their children.

Fishing on Big Sandy lake is a bit of a challenge in the summer time I will say you will have to put some time out on the water and if and when you do you may find yourself with a limit of these.This Sunfish was taken out of Aitkin Lake and it is connected to Big Sandy Lake by way of a Channel that gets a bit weedy in the summer but most of the time you can get a boat up to Aitkin Lake all year long. if you are lookin to go Camping a Friend of mine has a Resort up there and is full most of the time but you can check out his site and give Jim a call. www.aitkinlakeresort.com is his site. Big Sandy Lake produces some really nice Sunfish and some really nice Crappie in the Winter. Walleyes can be caught in the Summer in the weed lines and around the sunken Islands that Big Sandy has all over in fact Big Sandy has 23 Islands all over the lake so it gives anglers a great chance to fish no matter what the weather is like.

I know of a lake lot that is for sale by owner and I have a showing agreement with them it is Awesome and is located on Big Sandy Lake. It has 90 feet of frontage on beautiful Big Sandy lake and is 114 feet deep. It is Awesome for a first time buyer of a lake lot because you can use it for camping or to put a Park Model on and use it seasonally for a few years! Then Build your dream cabin or lake home on it down the road. Big Sandy lake is located a couple of hours north of the Mpls. Metro area and it is only half a Tank of Gas, away from having a good time on the lake with us up in Mcgregor Minnesota.

McGregor Minnesota, I am happy to report that the 2 big destination spots in McGregor Minnesota have gotten togeather and are joining there efforts to bring people up to northern Minnesota, Minnesota National Golf Course and Big Sandy Lodge and Resort are both in my neighborhood and I am very excited to see that they are both offering a Stay and Play Golf and over night package. Big Sandy Lodge and Resort is offering a place for Golfers to stay during the week or on weekends that are not currently booked as of yet so that out of towners can relax after a great round of golf out at Minnesota National Golf Course. Minnesota National will in the future have places to rent out but until then The Lodge has said we will help out.
Big Sandy Lodge is located 8 miles north of McGregor Minnesota and is just over 2 hours north of MPLS. Mn. They offer 18 themed rooms and have over 1400 feet of sandy shore line on Big Sandy Lake. Big Sandy Lake is McGregors largest lake and is Awesome for Fishing all year-round.
I live on Big Sandy Lake and love my neighborhood this is why I am so excited to see both of these fine places will join there efforts to get people up to Explore McGregor!
