Ready Aim Fire

Mar. 30, 2009

Another way we teach this is, “You don’t have to get it right.  Just get it going.  And keep improving it.”  Tony Robbins teaches, “CNEI” which he reads as “can eye.”  It stands for Constant Never Ending Improvement.  Tom Peters taught it as one of the characteristics of excellence.

Well, as we roll out our free daily webinars it is so much harder than it looks.  The webinar company is not set up to do a daily webinar for large numbers of people.  So, how do we make it easy to register each day?  If it can’t be really simple, how do we make is as simple as possible.  We can’t get it right.  We have to just get it going and keep improving it.

My point for you is that in most of your projects you can’t get it right from the beginning.  So, you REALLY can’t try to get it perfect from the beginning.  Often you just have to get it going and then keep improving it.  Create a deadline to finish a project, start a marketing campaign or learn a new tool then whether you are ready or not proceed with it. You will find you are much more likely to get it done when you don't have the fall back of  "well I will get to it next week" Even if you make a few mistakes along the way at least you have accomplished your goal.

Sure, this has to be balanced with getting it right enough to keep people’s confidence.
I thought this momentary challenge and our learning from it might help you.
