Alright, for this very first post on the Consulting - Agent-Consumer Win-Win group, I want to come totally clean with you. I'm an ACRE (Accredited Consultant in Real Estate). Actually, I'm also on the ACRE Council and am an ACRE Coach. What that means to you is simple: .many of my thoughts, ideas, opinions, etc. could be biased. They're viewed through the prism of the ACRE program. And I'll unabashedly tell you I believe it to be the best, most giving, comprehensive, resource-laden program available to help agents who wish to enter the Consulting arena do so with confidence, knowing they are not alone ... they don't need to reinvent the wheel.

HOWEVER, that being said, the intent here is to discuss Consulting as an option for your real estate practice. And much as I would love for you to be so excited about what you find here that you can't wait to get involved, our focus will be on the Consulting CONCEPT. As the heading to this post says "ACRE or not - The Landscape of Real Estate is Changing!!!" With a marketplace that has been bombarded in recent years with all shapes and stripes of "alternative" models in real estate, an internet and media who have done their utmost to disparage the value of a Realtor in the consumer's eyes, and an economic environment that is forcing the consumer like never before to pay particularly close attention to much more than price ... but rather to the value they receive for every dollar they spend, the time has never been better to take a look at how we, as real estate professionals, can best serve both the consumer's needs... as well as our own!

What is Consulting? To help introduce you to consulting as a concept (ok, sure there some ACRE stuff in there too!), please feel free to click the "What Exactly IS Real Estate Consulting?" graphic. It'll take you to a series of YouTube videos that focus on some of the challenges - and some of the solutions - that today's consumer, and we, as real estate practitioners, are facing. If you have questions, they may help to answer them. If you don't have questions, go ahead and watch the videos anyway. The may in fact generate some!

So, we welcome you to join the discussion if ,,,

  • You' believe that providing choices to the consumer IS important
  • You're fed up with working countless hours without a paycheck to show for it
  • You're already providing Consulting services and are open to the give and take of ideas with like-minded people
  • You don't really believe Consulting is your cup of tea ... but are curious to know what the fuss is all about
  • You're a Broker who thinks this might be a resource to energize the agents in your office
  • You've participated in one of the other Consulting programs and are curious about the difference

We'd love to have your questions, comments, and participation!

Oh, by the way..if any time you'd like to learn more about the ACRE program in particular, simply send an email directly to ACRE_RT@homeslady.com. You'll receive a detailed auto-responder giving you all sorts of additional information about our program. And, of course, if you decide you'd like to become an ACRE Consultant yourself, simply CLICK HERE. And, yes, we are a RealTown Approved Vendor.

Thank you so much JudiB, for starting this group. Like Judi, I need to offer some disclosure here...I am the founder of the ACRE® program. But please know, like Judi said, that this Win-Win Consulting group is NOT just for ACRE® grads but any forward-looking professionals who know that there a HAS to be a better way.

I have said many times that my interest is, above all, growing the practice of real estate consulting. What you avail yourself of in becoming a trained real estate consultant (not someone who simply calls themselves one because it sounds better than salesperson) is secondary.

I mean this sincerely. Yes, I am very proud of what we've developed with ACRE®. We are the only consulting program available that doesn't just offer a course, but includes one full year of coaching in the program fee, allowing you to not just learn concepts, but apply them "on the street" in assisting today's consumer with their real estate needs.

But having said that, there are other consulting programs or courses available with different approaches, and the important thing is that you find the one that "sings to you" and get the training that you need. Not all are the same...but that's ok...it's why they make chocolate and vanilla. I also believe that the people you will learn the most from are those who actively share varying ideas and concepts.

I do hope that serious professionals join the discussion here because the time to get on board with consulting is NOW. What we are seeing today is not just a normal business downturn. Our industry is going through tremendous challenges that are not going to disappear once this current market recovers. The changes we are seeing are systemic in nature and with the continued growth of technology and an internet-empowered public, the old one-size-DOESN'T-fit-all service offering, payable only by commission, just doesn't cut it with today's consumer. Neither do the discountiung schemes that benefit neither the consumer nor the agent.

But, responsible transparent choices not only answer the consumer's needs today but also finally provide the hardworking real estate professional the compensation that is worthy of the skills, experience and expertise that WE bring to the table. (Please feel free to check out "Intro To Consulting for Professionals" You Tube Series as well as other videos at ACREonYouTube.)

Take care all...

Mollie Wasserman
