Northern Virginia’s Power Supplier

Northern Virginia’s Power Supplier

Virginia’s Supreme Court has upheld the State Corporation Commission’s decision in power line case.

Fauquier, as well as Culpeper, and Prince William counties and other opponents including the Piedmont Environmental Council have lost their case regarding “the electrification of Northern Virginia.” This should not come as any surprise; have you seen the accumulation of catenary tower (large and tall poles) components Dominion Virginia Power has “positioned” on the ground now for quick construction in the upcoming months. If you do not believe me, take a quick drive down into Culpeper County on Route 29 and take the first exit to Culpeper…that’s one “storage” location.

One could say that the power is or will be necessary. One could also say that there were many other possibilities that somehow got push asidewith a quick decision that may be regretted in the future…and we take the towers.

Having first hand knowledge of how large and dramatic these “poles” are, let us not believe that each and every resident of Fauquier, Culpeper, and Prince William counties have not lost. These “carriers of electricity” will be in our view(s) each time we either look out from our homes, or drive to and from our daily tasks.

I guess the politicians in Northern Virginia have won again and we become their power supplier.
