What's the Best Video Editing Software?

Your reply helps a lot. This is pretty much what I have expected to be the case. Perhaps for me the best thing would be to wait until a professional company in my area starts doing it.
I understand that Obeo is supposed to be making some kind of an announcement today to start doing video tours in our market.
I would much rather focus on selling houses than on editing video.
However, I want more video on the community pages of my website and I don't think I can afford to do all that video... I guess the money will come for that as I start selling more houses from my video tours.....
Hi Debbie,
From the experts at Home View:
Sony Vegas Movie Studio and Adobe Premiere Elements are two of the best consumer level video editing applications. So you wouldn't be going wrong with either of the two. When you're ready to upgrade to more advanced editing and DVD Authoring, they both have pro versions available with higher-end features and functionalities. Definitely give Power Director a try, they have a free trial download available on their web site. It's always worth trying out different products to see which one works best for your needs and style.
Let us know what you end up doing and works best for you!
And again, doing it yourself can save you a couple hundred dollars; however, if you have a really amazing property, please invest the little bit of money to use professionals to help you make that property "POP." Use Home View Video Tours.

I agree completely. This is the next thing in real estate marketing. www.Welcomemat.com is a place for Videographers to offer their services. One inparticular quoted me 300.00 for a front introduction, some effects, home showcase and the conclustion. "Cribs concept" H Def is alittle more. As this becomes more of a norm like virtural tours, the price may drop a bit -or- only some realtors will actually utilize this technology. Regardless I feel it is a fantastic marketing tool for our sellers. I'll use it along with virtural tours and a professional photographer as well. The flip camera's are a joke for high quality tours.
The site sounds quite interesting, but you have the incorrect url. www.Welcomemat.com isn't a site for Videographers to offer their services.
I'd be interested to see the site you were referring to.
Thanks.
Online video is a fast-growing part of real estate marketing. Creating a DVD for distribution has it's place but is expensive and time consuming. Online video on your MLS, Craig's List, R.com, etc will probably get you quicker results.
The formost site for online vidoeo for real estate is wellcomemat.com.
The latest developments over at WellcomeMat are that they started charging for premium hosting service in January and booted the folks that were just doing slide shows in movie formats off the site.
My video site is akhomz.com. I've been doing full-motion video tours since 2004 and have sold over 100 properties using it.
There's a lively discussion going on in the "Hood" at WelcomeMat. It's a good place to learn about the state of the art in real estate video.
Actually...introducing Realtors to Videographers is a major part of WellcomeMat's mission and busuness model. Here's the link to that page:

They also serve to provide an ideal hosting site for Realtors and videographers that specialize i real estate video. Here's a link to my channel:

The most important consideration for on-line full-motion video tours isn't the editing software you choose nor is it the camera.
The most important component is either a good tripod and fluid pan head or a good quality hand-held stablizing system, like a SteadiCam. You must start out with smooth footage. Herky-jerky hand-held videos look amaturish and don't present well no matter how high the video resolution the camera produces or how much editing you do in the post production phase.
I do it myself on the Windows Vista make a movie it looks good and cost me 20min of work.
I also use the windows movie maker on Vista.. it's very easy..
Get an external mic and don't be afraid to have some live audio you use with a music bed or natural sound...pretty impressive to see you talking one on one with a lake in the back ground and bird's singing, sun dancing on the water. trees swaying and everybody say whooo peee...no still images with piano music zooming in and out. Real life, narrated on camera as you tour the property. You are branding you too...and developing a personal relationship with the buyer/viewer.
