2007 was a crazy year in real estate – as we have heard in the news on a daily basis. In the San Francisco East Bay area of Contra Costa County, there are micro markets, just as there are micro climates in the various communities. Some areas did better than others. The senior community of Rossmoor, with approximately 6700 housing units and a population of over 9,000, had over 200 listings at the beginning of year 2007. We are down to 120-some listings, reflective of a combination of sales, expired and withdrawn listings, and listings that have been rented out until the market changes. Year 2007 sales are down and sales prices are down as well to prices of approximately 4 years ago. We’ve seen plenty of buyers looking, but they have been afraid to commit.
It is now an excellent time to buy in this wonderful senior community. Prices range from $140,000 to over $1 million. There are many different floor plans to choose from and a price range for every budget. Located in Walnut Creek, adjacent to the affluent communities of Alamo and Lafayette, it is centrally located to many Bay Area attractions and public transportation. If you are 55+ or married to someone who is, this is an excellent choice for the active adult population.
Whether you're looking backward or forward, the key is the same: real estate is local. I am here to help you make wise decisions. Contact me for info on Rossmoor or East Bay real estate. Have a Happy New Year!
