Real Estate isn't for Sissies

Mar. 24, 2009

When you first started your career in real estate, what did you believe would be your biggest challenge?

  • Prospecting Clients?
  • Building a partnership with other professionals in the industry?
  • Closings and all that is required to make it happen?
  • Advertising?

And now, having spent time in the industry, what IS your biggest challenge?  Are they the same concerns or entirely different?

I've found that GOOD agents build relationships, serve the needs of buyers and sellers and network with other professionals in the community.  GREAT agents have figured out how to spend the majority of their time in the above arena by creating systems to manage tending these relationships.  You must have a strong mind and a willingness to put others before you to be successful.

The more time I spend working in real estate the more I realize that we make it out to be a lot harder than it needs to be.  Our job is still to call, email, contact and follow up with the people we know and the leads we receive and let them know what we do.  Once you have developed systems to handle and streamline communication as well as transactions - you get in front of people and talk about real estate over and over again.

I am very curious to hear what other challenges agents are having in this business.  Please feel free to leave a comment.
