The code of Ethics

Welcome to my blog.  This blog is intended for real estate professionals that may have questions with regards to the National Association of Realtors(r) code of ethics.  To give you a little background I have been a Realtor(r) for nearly 14 years in the Los Angeles area.  My primary association is Southland Regional Association comprising 12,000 or so members.  We are one of the largest  associations in the state.  Geographically, we cover the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, just north of Los Angeles.  I am also a member of the Beverly Hills Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors.  I have been involved in Pro Standards since 1999 and a member of the California Association, and Southland Regional and Beverly Hills Greater LA Pro Standards Committees.  I am a CAR director and a CAR certified professional standards trainer.  I have participated in one form or another over 300 ethics and or arbitration cases.  I was honored to be one of only 3 panelists in the 100 year history of CAR to hear an  ethics case at CAR.  My intention here is to have discussions with regards to the COE and procurring cause (commission) disputes.  People are more than welcome to ask me questions or give me what if scenarios.  Please bear in mind if you are in a dispute with another agent do not mention their name or firm.  I do not give legal advice. But feel free to present me with your what if scenarios and I will gladly offer my opinion, and that is what it is an opinion only. Hope to hear from you soon.

Dear Neal:

Hello from Sunny Florida! I am also big on ethics but what about simple consideration i.e. keeping appoinments / showings on time and feedback.  I am grateful for this market to get rid of the non professional "Realtors or Agents" out there.  I call if I'm running more than a few minutes late. I've been doing this since 88 and having a great year for a "lousy" market.

How is your market?

Have a great weekend.
