Jul. 30, 2006 - FAIR REBATE and PROPERTY TAX RELIEF for 2005 |
2005 FAIR Rebate
Deadline for filing FAIR rebate applications is August 15, 2006.
The FAIR Rebate Program provides rebates for homeowners and tenants who occupied their principal residence in New Jersey on October 1, paid property taxes on that dwelling either directly or through rent, and whose gross income for the entire year does not exceed certain limits.
Only New Jersey residents who were either homeowners or tenants on October 1, 2005, are eligible for a 2005 FAIR rebate. Homeowners and tenants file different applications according to their status on October 1:

Property Tax Relief Filing Deadlines Extended
The deadline for senior and disabled homeowners to file their 2005 FAIR homeowner rebate applications has been extended from June 1, 2006, to August 15, 2006 and the deadline for filing 2005 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) applications has also been extended to August 15 from the original June 1 due date.
Because of the time needed to process both the FAIR and Senior Freeze applications, eligible applicants who file applications for either of these benefits after the original June 1 deadline may not receive their checks in the initial mailings. The Senior Freeze checks are currently scheduled to be mailed mid-July and the FAIR rebate checks are currently scheduled to be mailed in early August. Checks for applicants who file between June 1st and August 15 will be issued as quickly as possible.

Dear Ms. Bonacasa,
First, thank you for visiting my Web Blog; Somerset 08873. I am a local Somerset, NJ Realtor and my Blog is designed to help folks by providing information they can use. Hopefully, they will see the value I can personally add when thinking of choosing a central NJ real estate agent.
To seek answers to your Homeowners Rebate question try contacting the following:
NJ state Treasury at 1-888-238-1233 or go online for information at www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/fair/trhomeowner.htm
I would suggest first calling them to request an investigation as to why you have not received your rebate. Be certain to write down the name of the person you speak with, their title, a synopsis of the conversation and include the date/time of the conversation. You can always ask to speak with a supervisor or manager.
If you are unsuccessful dealing with the State Treasury, I would then suggest that you seek assistance from your NJ State Senator and/or State Assemblyman/woman (click "electronically mail" below to find yours). Legislators value the opinions and suggestions of their constituents. In addition, through their professionally staffed district offices, legislators are prepared to respond to requests for information about legislative matters or for assistance in dealing with State agencies.
You may call, write or electronically mail legislators at their district offices. Consult the Roster of Members listing at this web site for district office addresses and phone numbers. Or you may write to your representatives either in care of:
New Jersey Senate
State House
P.O. Box 099
Trenton, NJ 08625-0099
or in care of
New Jersey General Assembly
State House
P.O. Box 098
Trenton, NJ 08625-0098
When addressing mail to a legislator, the title "Honorable" should precede the representative's full name. The letter's salutation should read "Dear Senator" or "Dear Assemblyman/woman."
Finally, and VERY IMPORTANT… To protect yourself from identity theft, NEVER provide your social security number, bank information, name and address in a blog such as you have. People have had their savings stolen and their credit ruined. Fortunately for you, you sent it to a honest man. I will delete/erase your personal information after sending this message back to you.
Let me know if this note has been of assistance to you. And...if you (or your son) knows of anyone seeking to buy or sell real estate in the central New Jersey area, please pass my information along to them. BTW- It was reported today that NJ is likely to provide property tax relief. Click the link for the article.(
Regards,
Michael Adams
