Russ Ravary

I grew up in Allen Park Michigan in a family of five. Growing up downriver I know Dearborn, Lincoln Park, Taylor, Southgate and Wyandotte quite well.  As a kid I spent some time traveling to Southfield with my Grandparents.  My great aunt had a house right on Evergreen and my Grandfather helped run the farm.  I remember running through the fields and into the red barn.  My Aunt Mary Thompson gave her farm upon her death to the City of Southfield.  The historic farm house still stands in the shadow of Southfield City Hall.   

I spent a lot of time with an Uncle who taught me a lot about life and the landscaping business.  I still love putting up Christmas lights from helping my uncle put up lights on my grandmothers house.  Back in the day of the huge light bulbs and outlining the roof line and putting up a fancy manger won the Allen Park Christmas lighting contest.  I was cheap labor for my uncle so I cut a lot of grass and he even got more out of my by saying he would take me water skiing if we got Park Colony Club cut.  So we would go out early and cut grass with a 20 inch mower for 2 1/2 hours at  6 am and then he would take us water skiing on Portage Lake.    I still love to water ski at the age of 50.  My uncle taught me that you can do anything. 

He put me in a dump truck.  Showed me how to do it and I was off and driving.  Hard word was just part of the equation.  We ate on the run and it was not uncommon to work 10 -12 hours in a day.  I don't think I was ever paid over time but I thank him for teaching me how to work, how to water ski, and my love of the Christmas experience.

On my own I learned more and more about gardening and landscape design.  I learned how to treat clients and customers well so they became more than clients and customers, they became friends.

I spent 4 years in the Army first as a parachute packer for the Special Forces training unit and then as a Sargent in the 82nd Airborne infantry.  Most of my time was spent at Ft. Bragg.

I am now married to a great lady of Italian descent.  Marianne is my best friend and my love of my life.  She is a three time cancer survivor of 18 years.  We are just an ordinary family that is neither rich nor poor living in Livonia Michigan.  We work hard and play hard and try to enjoy life.

About 9 years ago I got into the mortgage business and evolved into a full time Realtor.  It is my calling.  I love showing houses.  I love the negotiation part of it.  My blood pressure goes up and sometimes I can't sleep when the home deal isn't tied up.  My heart  and energy goes into every client's purchase or sale.

The bottom line is that I will work hard for you.  I will get you the information to make a sound decision.  I'm not a pushy Realtors.  I will help you find the house you want.  On the selling side I have become a Internet geek.  I will market your home in places and blogs that many agents don't even think about.
