About Me

Hi I"m Jan Lowery, I have been in the Real Estate industry since 1978.  I began this journey, as a Real Estate Secretary in Ventura, California.  After a year and a half, I decided to get my license.  In 1980 my family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and my father and I got our licenses together.  We joined Century 21 Charter Realty in 1981 (which was bought out by Century 21 Nachman in 1997).  I have been with the same company for over 25 years.  As a real estate secretary, trainer and then office manager, I have a unique understanding of the business. Additionally, I got into the business when the market was tough, 18% interest rates!!  Creative financing has become my "Specialty."

Moving to the Hampton Roads area has been one of great experiences of my life.  It is the home to the largest military community in the world, with NAS Oceana, NOB, Little Creek, Joint Forces, and a few others.  In addition this area has one of the most beautiful and popular Beaches on the East Coast.  http://janlowery.com/AREALINKS.html

In August of 2001, my twin sister, Judy, retired from the phone company, to Virginia to be with family.  It was a crazy time, 9-11 hit, my partner Cookie, got out of Real Estate, to take care of her aging parents & Judy became my invaluable assistant.

My current mission is to work with Women on investment strategies,  and transitioning: jobs, marital status, loss, etc.  Real Estate is still one of the best investments opportunities in life.  Women need to be a part of that "American Dream."  It can be their own "retirement fund" since Employer paid funds are becoming a thing of the past.

Giving back to the community is very important to me.  In my own family I had a cousin with Muscular Dystrophy, Tony, an Uncle with ALS, Erwin, and now my nephew, Chad, with Cerebral Palsy.  They were and are strong & determined people, great examples of Humanity at its best.  I know how important it is for families, with disabilities, to tap into resources in order to get through each day.  I donate to Easter Seals and Habitat for Humanity out of every closing as a tribute to them.  http://janlowery.com/
