Thinking of the Future of my Family

I have recently reached a point in my life where I have seriously started thinking of the future. What can I do to help my kids?...What can I do to assist with my retirement? Real Estate has always interested me. I have heard it is one of the best forms of investment with large returns. With the economy the way it is 401k, stocks etc. are so transparent. I have seen many people come up short. That is why I have chosen real estate. I'm not sure whether I should "Fix and Flip," or become a Landlord. I'm just not sure. If anyone can help me decide, that would be awesome. Hope to talk to you
