Welcome |
Welcome to my blog about GREEN real estate. Let me introduce myself as a realtor whose been marketing myself as green since I became licensed in 2002. I coach a high school Envirothon Team every year and am a trained scientist who has done research first hand studying the effect of climate change on organisms. Although I applied this year to go on a research expedition to Antarctica and didn't make the cut I plan to reapply annually. My goal is to go to the polar regions as a research assistant to witness the changes in these regions firsthand.
See the fantastic presentation at UMass Amherst for detailed information from the summer institute I attended in July 2008:

So before all this hullaballoo over calling ourselves green, let's be honest, we've agreed to promote the highest and best use of the land. That use has rarely been the preservation of space or the absence of buildings, buildings, buildings. Or the advocation of LEEDS certified properties. From participating in trash pickups with my Dad in 1970 on the very first Earth Day to helping organize annual Earth Day clean-ups of local waterways and then sponsoring whale watches so that people link clean water to clean oceans I am GREEN, I live, breathe and eat green every day. Am I successful every day? No, but I sure do try. I hope to raise awareness here and to learn about this issue from other realtors. How are buyers desires changing in your area with regard to green technology? Are younger buyers more likely to ask about green designations or features?
Thanks for visiting!
