Columbus Best Blog is a RealTown Blog. Maureen.RealTownBlogs.com is the url. RealTown Blogs Member List shows approximately 1200 member blogs, today. In an effort to copy Sellsiuso (because I do copy, or respond to Sellsiuso Blog's fun entries each and every chance I get...) here is my Ten Best Real Town Bloggers list. The Ten Best RealTown Blogs (IMHO) are not all female bloggers. The Ten Best RealTown Blogs list (IMHO) cross and recross (spell check tells me recross is not a word and suggests redress?... I will stick with recross...) gender lines in an effort to give credit where credit is due.
1. Best Cool Refreshing Blog - Real Estate Snippets by Bonnie Erickson... It's a Minnesota snowflake and I am one of her biggest fans. Bonnie is one of Sellsius o Top 10 Women Bloggers.
2. Best Newbie N.J. Blog - Somerset 08873 by Michael Adams
3. Best use of a hogs head on a community blog Welcome To Shavehead Lake On The Web! by Mike Bosela up in MI. The link will take you to the 'Hogs Head.'
4. Best Curmudgeonly Blog and Best Ranting on an RT Blog-The Gene Molloy Real Estate Blog by the one and only Gene Molloy of Chicagoland.
5. Best Use of a Long Geographically Titled Blog... All the points were tallied and it is a tie between:
6. Best Use of her Muse - Real Estate Bits and Pieces by Susan Pruden in Prince George's County MD. (That is pronounced "youze of her muze")
7. Best "Extra, Extra! Read All About IT!" coverage of local real estate news- Florida Real Estate Blog by Leanne Paynter. Love the little newspapers... all the news links.
8. Best Self Promotion - Ardell's Seattle Area Real Estate Blog by Ardell DellaLoggia. Ardell is one of Sellsiuso Top 10 Women Bloggers. Ardell is also part of the award winning Seattle's Rain City Guide.
9. Best Charitable use of a blog the Web Women Giving Circle blog by Frances Flynn Thorsen and Joeann Fossland. Joeann is one of Sellsiuso Top 10 Women Bloggers. I think of Fran a PA REALTOR® as my fairy blog mother, she was the first real estate blogger I knew of. It's hard to keep up with all Joeann and Fran are involved in; they're everywhere, blog on multiple blogs....
finally in an effort to be an inclusive, worldly and sophisticated "BEST of" list....
10. Best use of a real estate blog by a transgendered person - Manhattan Loft Guy by Sandy Mattingly...
ooops my mistake. Sandy Mattingly was ALWAYS a male I just assumed Sandy was a female when I met HIM online a couple of years ago... I read his posts on a national real estate forum and assumed for months that Sandy was a sassy female NYC real estate agent. It never crossed my mind that Sandy was not a female. Now that's good writing! No masculine chest pounding, no cave man grunts... what a guy!
No joking I love reading Sandy's NYC blog. Tomorrow RT Blogs...honorable mentions
What an honor and a privilege to make it onto your list Maureen. As any humbled award recipient would do, I would like to thank all of the people in this world, clients, REALTORS® and bloggers, who tend to aggravate me on a regular basis, for feeding me the fodder that makes my blog what it is today.
Sandy thanks for the comment re: The Ten Best RealTown Blogs Posted by SandyMattingly at 4:07 PM, Aug. 12, 2006 Sandy thanks for being a good sport about my continued ribbing about my assumptions about your name. Keep blogging! I liked your entry about Real Estate Bubbles, yesterday or today?... recently. I read another RT blog about it too.
Thanks Gene for the comment re: The Ten Best RealTown Blogs Posted by GeneMolloy at 4:19 PM, Aug. 12, 2006. You are one of a kind, keep up the good work.
Maureen
Thanks for the comment JF of Sellsius re: The Ten Best RealTown Blogs Posted by Anonymous at 6:47 PM, Aug. 12, 2006. I went to Sellsius blog the other day looking for something fun you did months ago... I needed IT for an entry I wanted on my blog this weekend. I could not find it so I will be back perusing (Bonnie Erickson wrote I pursue blogs when she meant perusing...) your blog. Anyway I just happened to be back perusing your blog for a link when I saw YOUR list. Again thanks for the comment! Maureen
Leanne, it was just a list of Ten Best in no particular order... Bonnie's number 1 was not better than Sandy's number 10. I just had to do Sandy at number 10. I like Sandy's blog a lot more than a couple on the list .... Each one is the BEST in their particular speciality. They are in my humble opinion the BEST Ten Blogs I know of on RT because you are all being consistant... I have obviously not seen all 1200 + blogs but I like the variety of the blogs on RT. Thanks for the comment.
Maureen
How did I miss your top ten list? Thanks for the "cool refreshing" mention. I could have used some of those snowflakes when we had our heat wave! Top tens are going through the blogosphere. Another blogger in my area is asking readers to post the top ten reasons they like St. Paul. You should do one on the top ten reasons your readers like Columbus! It would be fun to see the answers.
By the way, how do you know I didn't mean pursuing other blogs when you thought I meant perusing? I just might be pursuing!
I don't know Bonnie, how did you miss it? It came out Saturday a little before noon... I thought you were copied on the email I sent out to 10 of 11 blogs mentioned on Friday.....
Keep up the good blogging. Thanks for the comment.
Maureen
gosh I hoped my blog was one of the ten best RealTown Blogs. Oh well...
My biggest advice to everyone in real estate who wants to blog is to join ActiveRain. ActiveRain.com there's a link in the sidebar of this blog will teach you to blog in a way the ePRO class and participating on RealTown can not at this time accomplish. ActiveRain is the best way to get motivated and stay motivated to blog IMHO. You may find that the RealTown platform is the place for you to blog or you may find out about other options on ActiveRain but you can learn a lot quicker I believe by participating with your peers, you can blog to the general public via ActiveRain or you can blog to your peers.
Maybe someday the people at RealTown will get their act together and BlogTalk or something on the RealTown platform will be something that ENCOURAGES blogging.
Looking at this blog two of the blogs are abandoned. Bonnie started a blog on Typepad and Leanne started a blog on WordPress.com so it's been a long time since their RT blogs were updated....and I have a broken link to Lynne.
Sandy, Gene, Mike, Sally and Michael are going strong. Susan is hanging in there...The Web Women Giving Circle was last updated in September.... To me the Web Women Giving Circle blog teaches a valuable lesson about spreading yourself too thin on the internet as it plugs along... lots of great ideas on blogs get short changed because of time commitments.
I do sincerely enjoy reading a good blog from tme to time, i myself do not always have the time to do this. As much as e-pro tells us to blog and read online digests i feel when i have a free moment i should be contacting former clients not surfing the web.. Does anyone agree???
