Best Search for Columbus and Central Ohio Homes
In an earlier poll I did not consider all the new kids on the block like Oodle, Trulia, Propsmart... If you aren't familiar with each search click on the link and search for homes in Central Ohio. Vote below for the best search!

Best local search is on my web site ;->
The most complete database is realtor.com. The others may be prettier but they are missing most of the inventory. Pretty does not matter as much as lots of information.
I'm not the biggest fan of realtor.com, but I do accept that they have what everyone lese needs right now.
To Mo in MI
In my town I think the local brokers have a better search than Realtor.com It gives better information about the local properties, it gives addresses, have multiple photos of local properties.
We have to use our brokers IDX... board rule. I can not have my own... but I love HER's Searches... and the leads come back to the listing agent OR the agent whose site the consumer entered on!!
Thanks for the comment. I must have fixed vote just as you arrived.

This is an excellent poll. I am curious to see if national sites are preferred over local or regional sites. Do you suppose that consumers might favor one type and professionals another?
Joseph, Thanks for the comments and the help.....It will be interesting. Too bad there will never be a way to poll just consumers or just people in the real estate industry on a blog ... or would there? Nah!
Jonathan of course in AZ yours is the best!! You have an RT blog don't you? Do a poll in your area with one of the free polling sites. Thanks for the comment.

Frankly, I think www.blueroof.com is the best home search site. I think it is the cleanest and has the best information available- comments are not allowed by the local MLS- and it's the only site I know of where people can get notifications on new home listings by email or by text message every day...

In Columbus, does your local MLS have a public search site? If so, I'd be curious where it would fit in the rankings. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, our local MLS -- REIL.com -- just upgraded their public search site and it's a substantial improvement on the old one. It's by far the most visited local real estate search site, well over Realtor.com, and also significantly better. It's also better than the searches offered by most of the brokerages.
Greg, Your site is nice looking. Kevin, We do not have a public search site in the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. I know there was a website that was sponsored by our board at one point, but I don't recall if all of our listings showed on it. Iin my memory many of the small brokers had a very large presence on the board site at a time and the larger brokers and many agents were investing in their own websites. I don't remember what happened to that public site, it seems like it just disappeared, I don't remember a big fight or controversy over it in my board. I sometimes wonder where it went. The Cincinnati Ohio Board of REALTORS® did have a public site and about two years ago the board voted to do away with it. Some of the small brokers sued the Board. The brokers suing for the reinstatement of a public website for the MLS lost in court. Thanks for the comment. Maureen
I voted for http://www.trulia.com because I'm not in Central Ohio - I scouted out the sites you listed. Popsmart turned me off because I had to register...sound familiar? lol I went with Trulia over Realtor.com because I think they have a graphically more appealing site and the mapping is good. Cool poll!
Ben, I never thought of Trulia, etc. the new kids ...until after I posted my poll on Monday and Sellsius° mentioned something.. Carole, I thought I played on Propsmart without registering.... but maybe that is why I could not find anything.. I thought it was pretty dumb. I liked Trulia... I can't remember Ooodle.
Ed, I almost deleted you as link spam... Classy British link spam. Then I thought look at it... I like the logo. Nestoria is probably not a place buyers looking for property in Columbus and Central Ohio USA are going to find properties! Real estate is local so I guess really your site (just UK? ) is no more foreign than a search in Salt Lake City, Utah, Birmingham MI, Seattle WA. or even Cleveland Ohio.... Is Nestoria a big home search? National? Regional? Company? Thanks for stopping by. Maureen

People don't get it. Trulia might be neat and pretty, but it only has 60% of the homes out there. It doesn't have the MLS, only direct feeds from some brokers. Who would want to search for SOME houses?
And Realtor.com blows because they REMOVE the extra photos and charge Realtors to put them back on. Thus having 50% fewer photos.
So go with a local MLS that has all the information and all the photos.
