Doo Dah Parade

4th of July rocket         My personal favorite Columbus Ohio, Fourth  of July event is the Doo Dah Parade in the Short North on the 4th..

"Celebrate Liberty & Lunacy!"

"MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!"

"Politicians must wear a funny hat!"

"Parade Route: Straggle out Park Street, slope across Buttles, shoot down Dennison, sneak across Collins, scale Neil Avenue, swing East onto 2nd Avenue, and then slide down High Street and stop at the last unlit arch."

Recently moved here from Birmingham, AL where Doo Dah Day and the parade celebrate our (mostly) four-legged friends.  The day is usually sponsored by the area animal shelter and a lot of the proceeds benefit the shelter.

I was wondering if DOO Dah Day in Columbus was similar to what I am familiar with?  All responses will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Welcome to Central Ohio.  Nope our Doo Dah Parade has nothing to do with dogs, unless dogs are a local issue...

I think in 2006 leash laws and dog parks were an issue so there probably would have been dogs walking in the parade.  Probably leashless.  Except for anyone who had a dog like mine, can't be trusted off leash (beagle mix.)

The Doo Dah Parade is political, issue oriented lunacy. I remember there being llamas in the parade one time in the early 90's.

The City of Worthington used to have a dog parade in the spring.  The Worthington Pooch Parade was a lot of fun.  The Worthington Pooch parade is gone now though too.  Sad.

Again, welcome to Central Ohio.
