"SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER?

"Under overcast skies," Ohio's official groundhog Buckeye Chuck failed to see his shadow:

According to legend, if the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2, there will be six weeks of bad weather prior to the arrival of spring; and if he doesn’t, the next six weeks will be mild.

So, you may wonder why we take our weather predictions from a rodent that’s afraid of its own shadow. While it may seem frivolous, Groundhog Day actually has a long and solemn history. "

So that means Ohio's Buckeye Chuck is forecasting an early spring? yahooo!!!!

Yesterday... I thought this was all a farce that it was a matter of looking at the calendar to see of course there is six more weeks of winter....

Happy Groundhogs Day!!!

For me anyway the news that spring is on it's way will help me with the cold and snow we are going to get hit with now.

I think the two comments above might have been posted to the wrong entry. I think they belong on the 2008 entry.

The first one the msnbc link is to P. Phil in PA seeing his shadow. Sorry for PA's luck on that one ground hogs are local, we go by Buckeye Chuck in Central Ohio.
