Connect in Manhattan

Dec. 4, 2008

Leaders in Real Estate finance and technology will be on hand next month at the 7th annual Real Estate Connect in New York City. (Here) Attendees are promised to be given the tools and techniques that we need to compete in the current revolutionary real estate market.

 Inman Connect
These leaders will chart out the future of our industry and help us better understand the new ways we will have to do business in the next few years.  We can find out what is going to happen to our market in 2009 to understand what the future of the real estate industry will look like.  We will learn how top companies are cutting costs and staying profitable, in a down market.  We will discover new technologies and learn how to build a killer web site, as well as our personal brand online.

The conference will focus on three segments.

1) Market - where are we going, how is the industry changing and what is our roadmap to the future.

2)  Technology - how it will generate new ways of thinking of the market and create a more efficient and cost effective transaction.  It is technology that will bring us out of this economic and housing market slump.

3)   Global Innovation - Entrepreneurs from all over the globe will share new ideas and new ways to look at and do business in our world.

I am planning on attending this year's Real Estate Connect.  Not only am I anxious to learn more about my industry, and improve my business, the After Holiday shopping in Manhattan will be incredible!

A New Ball of Wax

Dec. 2, 2008

Our industry is changing, evolving, into a whole new ball of wax. This is the market that will separate the boys from the men, the wheat from the chafe.

Transaction Management is the service that will differentiate us as professionals. Anyone can do a CMA with the information that now can be gleaned from the Internet. Anyone can put up a sign; place an ad in the paper even post a listing on the Internet. However, it is the professional REALTORS understanding of the market, its supply and demand, as well as velocity and trends that sets us apart. We also are experts in problem solving, financing issues, the closing process as well as the boat load of other issues that pop up in each transaction need a professional approach.

What will I do that sets me apart? I think I can sum it up in two words, education and technology. I will educate myself on the new trends in pricing and financing as well as the issues involving short sales and foreclosure transactions. I'll also investigate and implement new Internet marketing ideas. I certainly picked up a bunch of great information at NAR last month, and learn daily from the bloggers of sites like this.

I plan to be one of the men left standing when this whole market shakes out. How about you?

Separate the boys from the men
