Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls.  I have just recently learned about a FREE 411 number.  I have plugged the number in to my cell phone and now when I need a phone number I call it instead of the information number on my cell phone that charges me $1.00 for each call. 

To begin with you get a recording and the recording will ask you for the city and state. It will then ask you if it is a business, government or residential listing.  From there it will ask you to say the name of the person or business you are looking for.  From here for me I usually get connected to a person as it can't make out what I am saying.  I don't think I have a strong Texas accent so I'm going to blame it on unusual names.  You have to listen to a 20 second commercial before you get the phone number but the whole process takes less than a minute and you have saved $1.00 or more decpending on what your cell phone service charges.
