Fish Hatchery Road was named after (yep, you guessed it) a fish hatchery. Built in 1935, the Cohen Campbell Fish Hatchery (originally named the Styx Hatchery) raises largemouth bass, striped bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, and robust redhorse suckers in its 15 production ponds and reservoir pond. But enough about fish.

Fish Hatchery Road begins in Cayce at the intersection of Charleston Highway and the "birth" of Interstate 77. It continues through the town of Pine Ridge and the outskirts of South Congaree and Gaston. The road ends 16 pleasant miles later in Pelion, SC where it begins a new life as Old Columbia Road.

Established neighborhoods and farm houses reside next to innovative condominiums and newly-developed subdivision as more and more builders and home owners recognize the value of the picturesque and conveniently located acreage. Avid golfers frequent Fish Hatchery Road as they travel to and from the Golden Hills and Charwood Country Club golf courses - two popular and challenging courses of Lexington County, SC.
