Trustus proudly presents the winner of the Trustus Playwrights' Festival! It is August, 1951. In the sweaty back room of a U.S. Army safe house, hidden deep in the Florida Keys, a young American Counter-Intelligence agent named David has brought in a special subject for an interview - a German medical doctor named Halb. Over the course of one night, David must find this formula hidden inside Halb's head, or risk an American disaster. VIsit Trustus for show times and to purchase tickets.

Friday, August 13. Countdown to Kindergarten 2010.
Is your child going to Kindergarten this fall? Learn how to safely board a school bus, practice using a tray in a lunch line, speak with community heroes about safety tips and healthy habits, experience free dental and vision screenings, and have fun exploring EdVenture Children's Museum! This event is FREE to the public. 5-8 pm. For additional information visit EdVenture.

Friday, August 13. Free Concert!

Friday, August 13-Saturday, August 14. 29th Pelion Peanut Party!
Did you know that boiled peanuts are South Carolina's official state snack food? Let's celebrate peanuts this weekend! There will be something for everyone: arts & crafts show, food concessions, souvenirs, parade, exhibitors, book sale, softball tournament, the 2nd annual Peanut Butter Sandwich Eating Contest, and, of course, Boiled Peanuts! Be sure to visit the “Peanuts Your Way!” tent for a variety of old-fashioned peanut candies, flavored dry-roasted peanuts and handmade peanut art. Yummm. Visit SC Peanut Party for more information.

Saturday, August 14. 5K Run!
Time to lace up your shoes and run for a cause! The William Wilson Memorial 5k Run and Walk was established to remember and honor the life of the late, William Bancroft Mellor Wilson. Please join William's family and friends for the first annual 5K Run and Walk to promote the same healthy and active lifestyle William led, while raising funds for The Palmetto Cycling Coalition and William Wilson Scholarship Fund. 8am. Visit William Wilson 5K for more information and to read William's story.

Saturday, August 14. Southeastern Toy Soldier Show!
More than 30 exhibitors from across the South will display their collections of toy soldiers, or “military miniatures,” in this annual presentation. Miniature tanks, planes, cannons and vehicles, as well as books, will also be available for purchase from exhibitors. See living history reenactments on the museum’s front grounds and check out the military vehicles from the World War II and Vietnam eras! Visit the SC State Museum for additional information.

Sunday, August 15. Arboretum.
Located east of Shandon in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood is a seven-acre tract with a long looping trail which makes navigating the USC Belser Arboretum a breeze. The wooden chip path crosses over a stream by waterfalls, and to a lovely Zen garden. Volunteers have put up dozens and dozens of unobtrusive tags and plaques explaining it all. On the third Sunday of every month, it opens its doors to the public for three hours. What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Visit the Arboretum for additional information.

Monday, August 16. “South Carolina’s Silver Lining”.
Immerse yourself in the world of silver at this full-day program led by “The Charleston Silver Lady.” Examine first-hand more than 300 gorgeous antique silver pieces from Dawn’s fabulous private collection, some of which are included in the Museum’s new silver exhibit. $50 general public, $45 Museum members. 10am-4pm.
