View more entries tagged with: Lake WedoweeWe had our share of storms in the area on Good Friday. We had hurricane force winds for a while but thankfully the damage was minimal. I did get a chance to see some of the damage created by the storms. The metal roof of Rice Boat storage was blown off. But to my knowledge there were no casualties from the storm. If you own property on Lake Wedowee, you may want to come over to make sure it didn't receive damage from the storm. We have a lake-wind advisory in effect for today as well with more thunderstorms predicted!
Be safe!

View more entries tagged with: Lake Wedowee Real Estate, Lake WedoweeIt is Easter weekend and Lake Wedowee is near full pool. With all the rain we have had over the last few weeks, it has been an easy task for this big fish pond to fill up. It is a great time to come visit! According to Alabama Power we are about 3 inches from full pool. Typically Lake Wedowee doesn't reach full pool until May 1 but because of the continuing dry conditions, the Corp of Engineers gave APCO a variance this year which means we get to enjoy the lake earlier than usual.
This also means that the lake properties for sale are lookinng their best as far as water level goes. If you are interested in real estate on Lake Wedowee, visit Leisel and Kelly's main website at www.ILoveLakeWedowee.com! We can help you find what you love no matter if it is a mansion or a cabin! We would love to hear from you!

Lake Wedowee Life hit the streets as the first publication dedicated to the people and culture that make Lake Wedowee so unique on Feb 1, 2008. For years, people have fallen in love with Lake Wedowee and as it continues to grow in popularity the demand for information about the area grows too.
1. Alabama Power bought 80 acres on Lake Wedowee in the summer of 2006.
2. Alabama Power had a road closed County Road 90 behind D and S Marine in 2006.
3. Agents from one local company have spread the rumor that it is happening and have used it to capitalize on sales.
4. Highway 48 is being resurfaced.
5. Traffic counters are currently on Alabama 48 and U.S. 431.
6. The wet/dry referendum is being talked about for the Feb. primary ballot.
7. Boat Ban Legislation banning boats of a certain size on Lake Wedowee signed into law by Gov. Bob Riley.
8. People in high places are calling asking about a Ritz Carlton coming to Lake Wedowee.
9. Ad on Craigslist describing future plans of a marina, golf course and more by Reynolds Plantation.
10. Website addresses have been bought connecting “Linger Longer” and “Reynolds” to Lake Wedowee in the last month.
Taken one at the time, these items could be dismissed as a coincidence, but if you think of all 10 items collectively it presents a pretty strong case. While searching Lake Wedowee on Google Monday, I found several interesting addresses which have not been advertised before. The first one getting my attention was www.LakeWedoweeGolf.com. There is only one golf course in Randolph County, and it’s not advertising the Roanoke Country Club’s 9 hole course. It’s actually not advertising anything at the moment. The site shows a picture of a girl with keywords down the side like Lake Wedowee and Wedowee. This doesn’t mean much, but the exact same screen displays if you go to www.LingerLongerLakeWedowee.com; www.ReynoldsLakeWedowee.com and www.ReynoldsWedowee.com.

We had a good day of rain Tuesday but it was not enough to lift a no burn order for 33 counties in Alabama which includes the Lake Wedowee area. The no burn order, however, was amended this week.
In its original form, the order put a ban on personal fireworks of any kind. State Forester Linda Casey signed an order Wednesday clarifying the use of fireworks in the counties affected by the no burn order.
The new regulation allows ground level fireworks such as sparklers, poppers and basic firecrackers. However, aerial fireworks such as Bottle Rockets, Sky Rockets, Roman Candles and any other launchable fireworks are PROHIBITED unless it is over open water.
If found guilty of violating this order, you could face fines up to $500 and a sentence up to 6 months in the county jail.
Commercial or Municipal fireworks displays do not fall under this category and are permissible based on a permit from the state forester.
