Lasting Impressions...
Nov. 20, 2007
Growing up, we loved to wake up early to find out what Santa Claus had brought to our house. It was not uncommon for us to wake up at 2 in the morning (even as teenagers). Well the first year we lived in Quail Run, our neighbors were not the early risers we were. We had finished playing with all our new "stuff" before the sun came up and the neighbors were still not awake. We didn't let this stop us from enjoying their Christmas Day Fun. It was time for a Caldwell Wake Up Call (Complete with my older sister singing and video taping it). We always make a lasting impression where ever we live.

I wonder if the early morning Christmas tradition will continue with my nephew Luke...

Creative way to get a house
May. 17, 2006
This doesn't have anything to do with Randolph County, but it was so bizarre I had to let other people know. In Canada a man (Kyle MacDonald) is trying to barter to get a house and he started with a red paper clip. Yeah, you read that right, and the oddest thing about it... it's working! Using the barter section on Craigslist.org, he traded the paper clip for a pen, the pen for a ceramic doorknob, the knob for a camping stove, the stove for a generator and so on... Currently (May 17) he has up for trade a Day with Alice Cooper.
If you want to know more about this guy, here is a link to his website so all of you can see how MacDonald's quest to be a homeowner is shaping up.
It might be unorthodox, but hey stranger things happen all the time.
