How to get a FREE copy of Outlook 2007
|

|
If you would like to get a FREE copy of Outlook 2007, most if not all companies that host Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes will give you a copy of the software to use as long as you have their mailbox and the cost is only about $10 a month. This gives you several things in addition to a free copy of Outlook 2007. The Automatic Backup of your database, as well as the ability to check your email and see your client data, tasks, calendar, etc. online from any computer with a browser and an internet connection. Email can also be pushed to your phone if you wish (an extra charge). Those with Blackberry's love that!
One thing to remember if you are currently using Microsoft Office 2003. While you can replace Outlook 2003 with Outlook 2007, your suite of programs may not act like they do now. Automatically using some 2003 programs after installing Outlook 2007 may no longer be possible so just keep that in mind before trying to install the free version of Outlook 2007. Mail merge, etc. may be affected in an adverse manner.
The majority of our current customers that are using Outlook with an exchange server are using 123together.com and I can tell you from personal experience, they are top shelf! And they also offer the free copy of Outlook 2007. And once installed, you can also install RealeSeller and try it out. RealeSeller works perfectly with an exchange server. Remember to go offline before you install RealeSeller over Outlook as the exchange server will be trying to sync Outlook during the install process and that sometimes causes weird things to happen.
Wishing a Happy and Prosperous New Year to everyone!

Larry is correct, anyone using a hosted Exchange solution such as www.link2exchange.com , or www.1and1.com , or http://www.microsoft.com/online/exchange-hosted-services.mspx
will get a "free," copy of Outlook 2007, which can be installed as an upgrade over your existing version and no data loss will result, or a clean installation, no upgrade...
Outlook 2007 is really designed to work w/MS Office 2007, but works perfectly well with Office 2003, and no adverse issues arise. You'll not have the more advanced features, but will not lose anything as Larry implies.
With respect to smartphones, Exchange supports all of the types, Palm (Palm OS and Windows Mobile) Blackberry, iPhone, and Windows Mobile. You will not (should not) pay for the email on your iPhone or WIndows Mobile, as they automatically support Active Sync, the protocol used and built into Exchange. You will pay an additional fee for Palm OS using Good Messaging and Bberry using BES, fees are approx. from 10-20.00 a month additional.
Depending on the provider, you'll also get FREE antivirus/antispam scanning and mailboxes that range from 500mb to 4gb of storage. I do not suggest using more than a 2gb mailbox, as this is very large and will impact performance. If you need to keep every email, learn how to use the Auto Archive option which will save a copy of the emails on the local pc, for access, but keep it off the Exchange Server.
Outlook by itself is a powerful application and will more than likely handle the 80% of yuour day to day business needs. If you need a Real Estate specific application, for whatever reason, there are several add ons to Outlook to make it RE specific, www.eurekaware.com ; Active Agent from www.sonomaenterprises.com and Larrys application..AA and RealeSeller both work with Exchange, I am not sure about Eurekaware...
Remember, you must actually collect and then USE the info, this is why Top Producer is bleeding customers off and they are moving back to Outlook...
Outlook w/Exchange is perfect for teams and/or assistants, as you can share a common database, access mailboxes and calendars, etc...In addition, you can actually store word, excel, pdf, and several other types of documents on the Exchange Server for remote access. This can be done in the folders area, or simply attach the document to the contact record and be able to access it from the road, as if you were in the office...Document storage will go against your overall mailbox size, so be careful here..
The other option with www.link2exchange is Sharepoint, this is included..here is an article on what is and why it ROCKS!! http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/sharepoint/bb684456.aspx

Hi Mary,
Welcome to the group. Bottom line on your question is, the system you use is the one that is best. No system is perfect, Outlook included. It's just more universal and doesn't have a lot of proprietary holds on your data.
I agree with everything that Randall just posted, except that I wouldn't recommend the 1and1.com group. I used to, but we started getting calls from our customers about their poor support, down time on servers, and other problems. So, we researched and picked 123Together.com and haven't had a single complaint from any customer about their service. And with the number of users we have, that's saying something I can tell you.
The Sharepoint server is nice when you have a team, but I don't think for a single individual it's worth having. I am always looking at things from a conservative view in this economy, so much of what I say is based on that slant on things.
Anyway, if you have questions about anything Microsoft related, you can probably get an answer here.

Hi Larry,
Thanks for your great information about this program. I just finished the e-pro class and saw your advertisment about this add-on program to Outlook. I currently have Outlook 2007 without the exchange online. I looked over some of the benefits of this program on your website but a had one quick question. i just purchased a Blackberry and have synced all my contacts which was easy and fast. When I incorportate this add-on to Outlook will the extra Real Estate details from each contact also be synced to my Blackberry?
Thanks,

"i just purchased a Blackberry and have synced all my contacts which was easy and fast. When I incorportate this add-on (RealeSeller) to Outlook will the extra Real Estate details from each contact also be synced to my Blackberry?"
Hi Paul,
The quick answer is no. We chose Outlook in the first place because it already sync's with any smart phone made by anyone, even the iPhone. All this without us adding software to a phone or PDA which very often has issues with third party software. Since most of the data agents are interested in sync's by default, Name, addresses, phone numbers, etc. most agents are happy with the stable phone, and the information that already syncs. You can expand a few things and we have special things in RealeSeller which make it easy to keep extra data on your phone.
I teach an Introduction to RealeSeller class every Tuesday from 10AM-Noon CST. If you or anyone else would like to attend, please send me an email and I will send you an invitation to the class. We use GoTo Meeting and you can either use a phone or the built in VoiP service to listen and watch.

I need help. About 3 weeks ago, I upgraded from a 4 year old Dell with Windows XP Pro and MS Office/Outlook 2003, to a 64 bit Vista with MS Office/Outlook 2007. My son, visiting from NYC, diligently archived all my Outlook files. Now he's back in NYC, and I am unable to import the archived files on my hard drive back into Outlook. I get a message saying the files are already in use. I have therefore lost all my client database, or at least, it is in a form that is useless to me. I went to the MS Outlook site and followed instructions, but no matter what I do, I can't get those files into Outlook 2007.
I am so hopeful that someone else has experienced this and can help me, or Larry, if you can tell me, I would be so very grateful.
Thanks!

D'Ann,
I think this is a Vista 64-bit/Outlook 2007 thing. It happened to me a few weeks ago and I was in a serious panic. I had been using both applications for about 10 months and started getting the "file in use" error and a suggestion to restart outlook. My outlook would not do ANYTHING! What finally worked was carefully noting which file was "in use" and running "scanpst" on that file. It took three tries and about 12 hours of computer time, but it is fixed. I think I downloaded scanpst from the microsoft site. Hope that helps!
D'Ann,
When you get some free time, give me a call and I will set up a time with you to log on your computer and take a look. As long as the files exist we can get the data.
