La Jolla Homes

Aug. 29, 2008
An average price for a home in La Jolla has remained fairly consistent. In February of 2008, the average price began to rise quite dramatically, but for the most part it appears to look virtually unchanged from a year ago. At the beginning of 2007, the average price for a home in La Jolla was approximately 2.2 million dollars. The average price dipped and rose a few times, but not by much, throughout 2007. By the beginning of 2008, the average price jumped to around 2.5 million dollars, while in February the price began its incline and finally peaked, from February to May, at around 3 million dollars. As of last month, the average price has once again fallen to about 2.3 million dollars.

However, although average prices for a La Jolla home have remained consistent, the number of units being sold have almost been cut in half compared to the previous year. In June and July of 2007, there were about 35 units being sold each month, compared to just over 15 units being sold for the same months in 2008.

The median price of a La Jolla home has also remained consistent. However, there median price is the lowest it has been since the beginning of 2007. From March through May, the median price was the highest it had been in a year peaking at around 2 million dollars. Last month, the median price fell to around 1.5 million dollars.
