A funny thing happened today..with my Macaw & Amazon

Last week, I got a new bird.  He's a yellow-naped Amazon called Sushi.   He's pretty shy.  This morning, he was making crying sounds like a 3 month old baby.  He was so loud, he woke up my son who said "what is that noise"?He was really loud!  This bird is normally a guy bird (meaning he doesn't like women much).  I opened the cage and he came right out on my hand and stopped his "crying".  Sushi was very happy just wandering around.

Later, at lunch time, I was having chicken.  I gave him a chicken bone (because he LOVES eating the marrow).  Sushi was happily munching on his chicken bone in his cage with the door open.  Meanwhile, my Scarlet Macaw named Jaime was just wandering about on top of his cage in the next room (about 40 feet away).

Jaime

The next thing I knew, there was Jaime!  He was sitting on top of the door of Sushi's cage and he had Sushi's bone in his mouth.  I was sitting right there and I didn't see him fly over, go into the cage and take the bone right out of Sushi's mouth!  Jaime had no idea what to do with the bone but he knew he should have it!  I gave the bone back to Sushi and Jaime then tried to steal it back again.  Luckily, I had a second bone.  I separated them (shut Sushi's door) and put Jaime on a perch after that.

Here's Lucky!  She's a Salmon Crested Moluccan Cockatoo.  She is very sweet most of the time and loves being cuddled.  She laughs when you do and can be VERY loud.  She generates tons of feather dust so she has her own air cleaner.  Because she is very loud at times, I've taught her to say "I love you!".  That way, when she's really loud, she says "I love you" and it makes it a lot easier to tolerate the extra noise.
