When you think about buying a home in Lake County, a lakefront home may be your first thought, especially with Clear Lake standing out as such an attraction. After looking at homes around the lake, you can see there more options available. Here are some simple descriptions of home categories in the Lake County area. A lakefront home is located directly on the shores of Clear Lake or even a private lake or reservoir. A good way to check on the actual location of a lakefront home is to look at a parcel map or an aerial map such as the Lake County GIS website, just enter the address or APN (assessors parcel number). A waterfront channel home is a more affordable category to consider. In most cases a waterfront home will be located on a man made channel that leads to Clear Lake.
