What To Do On Hilton Head Island-Part II |
Hello, All!
My Last blog talked about interesting statistics about HIlton Head Island. I promised more about what to do while living or vacationing on the island. As I said, there is so much to do here it will take more than one blog!
Let's start with the activities that everyone thinks about when they think of HIlton Head Island. That, of course, is golf, tennis and boating.
First, is golf. Most people know that HIlton Head is home to the Heritage Classic each spring. We are fortunate to host famous golfers from all over the world and it is quite a treat to be able to walk the course with them and enjoy spectacular golfing performances.
Also, most people know that Hilton Head Island is a golfing destination. But did you know there are over twenty golf courses(some private) on the island? There are even more within a thirty minute drive of the island. You can play golf five days a week for a month and not play the same course twice! Some of the most famous golf course designers in the world have worked their magic here on Hilton Head Island. Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills and Robert Cupp are among those represented here.
Tennis is also a big attraction on Hilton Head. With over 350 tennis courts to choose from, we draw players from all over the world. All three types of Grand Slam courts are here as are grass courts. The Van Der Meer Tennis Center is also the nternational headquarters for the professional tennis registry. Again, HIlton Head Island weather is super! There are very few days that you can not play tennis and if it rains, there are always covered courts!
Boating is also associated with Hilton Head Island. Whether you enjoy sailing, fishing or yachting, you will be happy on Hilton Head. There are nine marinas on the island that rent everything from small boats to 70 foot yachts. For those who have their own boats, some of the marinas offer all the comforts of home including cable hookups, exercise facilities, and laundry rooms. A side note-Hilton Head is home to the South Carolina Yacht Club located in the beautiful Windmill Harbour Plantation.
These are the activities that quickly come to mind when you think of Hilton Head Island. Next blog-what else can you do?!
