Happy Fourth of July from Hilton Head Island! |
Happy 4th of July from Hilton Head Island to all!
Today is one of the busiest most lively days of the year on Hilton Head Island. I love it!! Each Tuesday evening at Shelter Cove there is a fireworks display. This begins after Easter and continues through the summer. The week of July 4th we are treated to fireworks on Tuesday evening and, on this year, more on Friday. This fourth of July, you can choose from three spectacular fireworks displays on the island.
The first is at Shelter Cove Harbour. The fireworks will begin at dusk and as an added bonus, Shannon Tanner will be performing two free concerts at 6:30 and 8:00. Tanner is celebrating his 20th year of performing on Hilton Head Island.
The second fireworks display will be at Harbour Town in Sea Pines Plantation. The best place to see these fireworks is the 18th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links but spots fill up quickly. Greg Russell will be performing a children's concert from 8:00-9:30 under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town.
The third opportunity to experience a fireworks display will be at Skull Creek in Hilton Head Plantation. The best places to see the fireworks here will be the docks at the marina or at any of the great restaurants with views of the creek.
My favorite place to see the fireworks is a little different. I like to be on a boat! My family and I began this tradition years ago, almost by accident. We went out with a dolphin tour and decided to stay out for the show. Boy, was it worth it!! One word of caution, however. If you ever decide to take a boat to watch the fireworks, bring lots of mosquito repellent. Apparently, the mosquitoes like fireworks, too!
Wherever you are, I hope you have a happy and safe fourth of July! If you have not been to Hilton Head Island on the fourth of July, please consider a visit. Hilton Head is a truly great place to live, work and play. Remember, It's all about the lifestyle!!
