| First-time home buyers accounted for 41 percent of the market in 2008. It appears that most agents approach this market as if there were few significant differences between the first-time buyers and those who have bought several prior homes. I find this one of the most rewarding markets and take pride in the high degree of loyalty that I receive from these buyers. It may take longer, the average price may be lower, and you may have to show more homes before they are comfortable enough to make the decision to buy, but at the end of the day, there is the great satisfaction of knowing you have helped another family obtain their share of the American Dream. One other thing, first-time buyers usually become second-time buyers at some point in the future. If you do a good job the first-time and stay in touch along the way, you may have made a client for life. |
